Fire hose comprises of two parts: jacket and liner.

Many years ago, cotton was the most used as jacket, but msot modern hose uses a synthetic fiber like polyester filament. Polyester filament is typically  more durable and better resistance to abrasion.

The liner is usually PVC or synthetic rubber.
The main features of various liners:
PVC: Cheap price, acid resistant, alkalis resistant, seawater corrosion resistant
Natural Rubber: Flexible, tear resistant, insulated.
TPU: Oil resistant, cold resistant, abrasion resistant.
EPDM: Ozone resistant, ultraviolet (UV) radiation resistant, temperature resistant, chemicals chemicals.
